Literally speaking, the journey is really the reward in this easy ball game, because there is no end if you not stop yourself.
You have to move the steel ball as long as possible on the wooden rail, which consists of two strips of beech wood fitted together. It’s more difficult than it sounds, because it requires a good coordination of brain, hand, eye and also fine motor skill. At the same time you can improve these skills. That’s why the “Kugelfuhr” is a vertiable training device in spite of the high play value.

The ball is placed on the rail which is hold and steered at both ends. By tipping the ball rolls toward the line’s end, where a curve must be taken to go on the opposite line. Depending what happens, there is either a “scandal” in the truest sense, namely a loud noise, when the ball is dropped and the outcry follows - or you feel a gentle triumph when you succeed in orbit the end of the rail skillfully.
Until reaching meditative feelings of happiness, this endless run can be repeated or just practiced again and again as long as you feel like doing it. Afterwards just put the ball for storage in the appropriate slots at rail’s end.
