The helmet, equipped with an accelerometer, does not just illuminate front under with 14 very bright LEDs, or signal your position to other vehicles at the rear. The Lumos alerts when you brake but also when you plan to turn, which you can signal using the buttons of a wireless remote control located on the handlebar. The helmet is waterproof, weighs just over 400 grams and recharges via a USB socket.

The MIPS system is designed to increase protection against rotation (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain by angular head impacts. Rotation motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces from angular acceleration that affect the brain and increase the risk of minor and severe brain damage. MIPS’ additional protection system has proven effective in reducing rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain.
